In the 1920’s, Angelo Vendena farmed his land right here in Arvada, Colorado.  He grew some of the best vegetables in the region which he sold door-to-door in Denver neighborhoods from a horse drawn wagon to support his nine children.  His customers where amazed at how he could grow such better tasting vegetables than other farms.  His knowledge of using all organic soil nutrients was the big secret!

One of Angelo’s sons, Roxy (pictured above), realized that a lot of people in the area could benefit from his father’s knowledge.  Roxy wanted to show people how organic compost could turn the clay-like Colorado soil into a rich and fluffy growing medium.  Roxy believed that these rich mixtures would also help folks grow amazing flowers, healthy trees and thick green lawns!

So, in 1947 Roxy began Permagreen Organics in Arvada.  The company was one of the first in the country to package soil amendments for residential use.  Since then, Permagreen has become the region’s premier manufacturer of organic soil products as well as decorative bark and mulch.

Today, Permagreen Organics is still located in Arvada, where Roxy’s son (Roxy Jr.) still produces gardening and planting soil amendments just like his dad did in the 1940’s.  Permagreen believes in doing things the natural and organic way.  Unlike other top brands, Permagreen products are never fortified with nutrient charges that are made up of chemicals with names you can’t pronounce.
